Discussion Questions: 1. Can you think of another type of question you could ask to stretch students in class? Feel free to share ideas and examples. 2. What are some formats you would like to see universally enforced throughout NLA (see p. 47-51 for some ideas)?

Technique 4 - "Format Matters": I agree with the techniques in this passage. After teaching grammatical and complete sentence format it is helpful to teach the student how to self correct. Also, getting the students to use the vocabulary, speaking and/or writing the information by rewording and explaining in details is useful in his/her development. Bloom's Taxonomy is definitely effective in this case. Example for "complete sentence format": Teacher: James, how many tickets are there? James: Six, Teacher: What have you noticed in the passage about the amount of tickets? One might say, "When I read - James continues the teacher's thought..When I read the passage, the author stated that there are six tickets in the wooden basket." The teacher is now leading the student to answer the question. By finishing the teacher's line of thinking and elaborating on what he/she read or noticed in the passage.
