1-To echo what Krista said I don’t have much experience with curriculum mapping but I can see using a student needs assessment in a similar way and allowing the identified needs to become the source to drive the 4 M’s. I also agree that measuring the desired outcome would be the most difficult to employ as we are usually working on Life Skills that show up as behaviors rather than hard documented data.
2-Due to space limitations we had to be creative in our efforts to create privacy. I feel we accomplished this to the best of our ability by breaking the larger space into smaller sections. We also wanted to make the space warm and welcoming. We accomplished this with vibrant colors, positive motivational quotes and comfortable furniture. The only disadvantage I would identify is lack of true privacy.

1. After assessing my students, I base my units on the needs of the students. Next, I create objective-based lessons while thinking about the condition, behavior and standard I want my students to have at the end of each lesson. Each lesson has an introduction to an artist/ history, Art terms/vocabulary, hands on art activity and an assessment. In addition, I'm thinking about how each objective aligns with the NJCCCS and how I can relate each lesson to a career/real life. Reflecting on my own learning style, I would have to say 'made first' is the most difficult. I'm a visual learner so after seeing the end result, I can differentiate the lesson based on my students' needs and figure out how to present it to them. I need to see an example and then I can interpret how I will create. However, all students learn differently, I've learned that showing examples restricts and limits the creativity of students so may not present a finished artwork the first day of a lesson. 2. My previous classroom included seven tables with four seats to each table. To maximize instructional time, each seat faced the front of the room where my desk, objectives, artwork and materials were. All students and art work were visible from the front of the room and the layout minimized incidents. This layout wasn't conducive to all my students. My schedule consisted of grades Kindergarten through 8th grade. Thus, I had to accommodate and adjust with my younger students in which safety always became an issue with huge tables and at least 28 chairs in my art room.
